Friday the 18th of October another great day not to be at work.
This year we were back in the Mighty Waikato at the Riverside Golf Club Narrows Course in Hamilton in what could be the last time due to the course being sold to NZTA for the new road into Hamilton. But on the bright side the Lochiel course is being completely rebuilt. This may be ready when we return to the Waikato in 2021. After the clouds burnt off we had a great clear day with 19 degrees.
This year we continued on from last year’s great success with the Team Ambrose and run this again alongside the 18 hole individual stroke play.
Again WOW, another cracking response with close to 30 first timers to our tournament.
A massive field of 106 on the start sheet. The new record for the tournament on the Waikato side. Up 40 players on our pervious visit in 2017 to the Narrows Course.
So the Team Ambrose turned out to be another master stoke by the committee. So the Team Ambrose is here to stay.
The usual thoughts and comments about the possibility of slow play were bandied about but most finished in 4 1/2 hours which did surprise even the club pro.
So a great effort all round by the committee and all the players on the day.
Sponsorship was again smashing/brilliant/massive, what more can I say. Almost had to print a 3rd pull up banner to fit all their logos in. With a number of newbie’s to our tournament this year. 18 hole sponsors and some fabulous prizes donated also.
Without the Champion Companies listed below tournaments like this just couldn’t happen.
Although I am the National Sponsorship Coordinator for the NZ Electrical Trades organization I’m continually surprised and at times overwhelmed with the generosity of these companies and the great support they give not only the WBOP tournie but all the other 9 regions as well.
So I know it goes without saying, but please support these fantastic companies below whenever you can. There are some new companies from outside the electrical industry also so if you need access platforms on site think Total Access, Heat Pumps then Mitsubishi will have you sorted, Regional Broadband then give Lightwire a shout and with those Christmas parties just around the corner please consider the great team at The Helm Bar and Kitchen.
Security check out Connect Security Products.
Looking for new golf gear, Pro Drive Hamilton should be your first port of call for sure.
