The NZ Electrical Trades Golf has a long and proud history of camaraderie within the electrical industry, each year ten of the main provinces around New Zealand organize a regional golf tournament for all who work within the electrical trade and its supporting networks.
From these regional events a ten-person team will qualify to represent their province at a national tournament hosted annually by each of the provinces on a ten-year rotational basis.
Instigated from an idea mooted by some of our industry leaders, this event has grown from thirty-three players attending the inaugural national tournament in 1967 to what is now a calendar event for all its attendees with spots in the teams hotly contested by all who have attended previously or who have heard from friends and associates of what a fantastic occasion the national event provides.
Provincial supremacy is played for and cherished as intently as any of our major sporting events in New Zealand with bragging rights greatly enjoyed at the post-event celebrations.
A number of provinces also have individual contests within the event that also add to the inter-provincial flavor of the tournament.
It should be noted in closing that although many of the contestants and financial supporters who attended in the early years no longer work in the industry, their companies continue to find the time and financial support for our regional and national tournaments.
We are truly grateful to all of our supporters and look forward to a long and successful continuation of the New Zealand Electrical Trades Golf Inc.
