Tasman/Marlborough/West Coast 2023

Golf Course

The NMWC tournament took place on Friday 27th October after being postponed due to bad weather 5 weeks earlier.
Once again there were early showers around but these cleared by mid-morning and the players ended up with good conditions.
After having a few teams withdraw in the 24 hours before, we ended up with 10 teams taking part in the now-annual Ambrose tournament.

The Waahi Taakaro course was well presented a week before their largest tournament of the year, the Maitai Masters.
The club has been through a lot in the past 3-4 years. With no maintenance during the COVID lockdown and then two floods badly damaging parts of the course, it is a credit to the club management and members to now have gotten the course into such fantastic condition.

We all hope they don’t have any more setbacks.
With the ford still the only access to the course, the teams were loaded on a trailer and taken across the river. It is hoped the new floodproof bridge will be open early next year.

Scoring was very impressive this year with a score of 65 winning the day for the team known as the Hokitika Licker.
Second place was taken out by Gaza’s Magic Pencil with a score of 66. Not bad for a team of three.
And third was Radcliffe Blenheim #1 who beat their mates #2 on count back.
Other scores were.
Cory’s Blenheim - 68
Crabb Electrical - 69
Purple Cobras - 69
Average Joes - 69
Abel Electrical - 69
Tasman Sparkies - 81
