Day One Boulcott’s Farm Golf Club

Boulcott’s Farm Heritage Golf Club was formed in 2010 with the amalgamation of the Hutt Golf Club and the Boulcott Golf Club. Both clubs have extensive and proud histories. The Hutt Golf Club was established in 1892, and was the first golf club established in the North Island and the third in New Zealand. The Boulcott Golf Club was established in 1947, immediately adjacent and to the south of the Hutt course.

On 4 June 1892, David Howden, an Edinburgh Scotsman and a scratch golfer, hosted meeting in his home to form Hutt Golf Club.
This was the first golf club established in the North Island and the third in New Zealand.  He was elected Captain, CH Treadwell was elected Secretary/Treasurer. The motto ‘Far and Sure’ was adopted and the colours and emblem accepted.
The early location of the course was at the Hutt Park Racecourse and the first competition day was in September 1982.  In 1908, the current site was purchased and the development of a new course commenced.  The first 9 holes and the clubhouse opened on 29 May 1909.
