Canterbury 2020

Canterbury Electrical Trades Golf Tournament 2020 Electrical Trades TournamentAt Waitikiri the 72nd the year of the COVID 19
A field of 108 well up on 2019 took to Waitikiri on a superb day sunny, clear and not a breath of wind. The course was in fantastic condition with fast & true greens (as is the way just before coring).

Again the Ambrose format was a huge success with 27 teams going for the Clevertronics Trophy. Thanks to Angus and James for selling all the raffle tickets and for the money being correct.

Also a big thank you to non golfer Alastair Gee, Master Electricians National President (AML Switchgear) for helping out Mike at prize giving.

We had 2 BBQ’S this year, Hamer on the 10th and Bremca on the 3rd hole.

Other sponsors had different novelties around the course – ATT had a chipping contest on hole 12, & SIMX had jelly shots on the 1st.

Active Hornby sponsored the coffee cart before we started. A thank you to these companies and to the many others who either took up hole sponsorship and or supplied prizes.

Thanks to the office staff at Fitzwilliam Electrical & AC Connections for their help with the paper work. A new approach this year to the prize giving was a lucky dip. Apart from the first four prizes all other prizes were bagged up and numbered.

A draw of an Ambrose card invited the team captain to draw a number and this number corresponded to the numbered prize.

Results – because of the Ambrose format there were no individual results. Nearest the pin & chipping prizes were presented by the sponsors. The Clevertronics Trophy was won by the Cory’s team “The Goodies” captained by Kevin Carmody and no doubt helped along by Stephen Tuckers handicap of 47

Thanks to all who sponsored and played.
