Canterbury 2022

2022 Electrical Trades tournament – At the Waitikiri Golf Club the 74th. 14/10/2022

A field of 100 took to Waitikiri on a superb spring day, sunny, and clear with little wind. The course was in good condition with the greens having recovered well from recent coring. Again the Ambrose format was a huge success with 25 teams going for the Clevertronics Trophy.

We had on-course BBQs’ sponsored by Klein Tools (Richard Seaton) & Bremca Industries (Scott Weir). Other sponsors had different novelties around the course – ATT had a marsh-mellow driving contest on hole 12, & Switch Lighting had refreshments on the 1st, and Thorn had refreshments on the 10th. Active Hornby sponsored the coffee cart before we started and Robus LED supplied a survival pack for each four. The Norm Smith memorial NTP on the 17th was sponsored by AML Switchgear (Alastair Gee) and NTP on the 9th was sponsored by Schneider (Dave Chapman). A huge thank you to all these companies and also to the many others who either took up hole sponsorship and supplied prizes especially Intech and ATT for the prize bags. As usual a strong prize table with more than enough prizes for everyone.

12.30 shotgun start away a little early as everybody had checked in. The round was played at a good pace. Soon had the results done as there were only 25 cards to process, ready to go with raffles and prize giving in double quick time, and all done and dusted by 6.05. Special thanks to Angela Tarrant (Robus) and Maurice Kremer for helping Mike out during the day. Their assistance was appreciated.

The team to Dunedin is – James Anderson, Jeramie Neaves, Blair Struthers, Keiran Harland, Jack Brown, Deane Hutchinson, Shane Nagataki, and Paul Mitchell

Results – because of the Ambrose format there were no individual results. Nearest the pin prizes were presented by the sponsors. The Clevertronics trophy was won by Team SBB a combined team from Carlet Electrical. Runners up Telfer City team 2, ATL Electrical and Team Tycab/ Melray/ Phoenix Contact were 3rd.

Thanks to all who sponsored and played, your participation insured a great day. Look out for our 75th-anniversary tournament with the course already booked for September 29th.
