Pakuranga Golf Club – Friday 30th September
The weather gods did not favor us at Pakuranga this year!!
– Fine on Thursday, fine on Friday morning……… “then as the 12:30 shotgun start siren sounded the rain started and didn’t stop until the last group finished”.
– Fortunately it wasn’t heavy rain and with no wind most players handled the conditions well enough with some good scores being recorded.
The club provided us with excellent support from the pro shop with Sam and his staff’s preparation of the cards much appreciated.
80 players braved the elements with “a few” not getting completed as the conditions proved too much to handle.
We had awesome representation from the NHP staff with Jane, Miles, and Tye providing American hotdogs during pregame registration, a huge thank you to NHP with their additional contribution of the evening meal a valuable saving to our event costs.
NSG providing a picnic hamper loaded with fruit and chocolate bars thank you to Eddie and staff Danielle and Marius.
Pankaj Kawatra representing one of our national sponsors Philips Lighting, was there providing free golf balls, thank you to Pankaj.
Peter Curac from Lamson New Zealand Limited provided a display of their van shelving, this has been kindly donated for sale to help raise funds for our tournament.
The course although a little wet underfoot in places on the fairways, was initially in great condition greens and putting wise, regretfully this let us down later in the day with surface flooding.
The rain didn’t dampen the spirits in the clubhouse, a few auction items and a monster raffle preceded the prize giving, along with ham and salad rolls for our afternoon meal “and a few beers” the evening was well supported to its end at around 9:00pm.
