73rd – Electrical Trades Tournament – Waitikiri Golf Club
A field of over 90, not bad considering the lockdowns and a later running of the tournament. Several groups had to cancel because of work commitments. It was a superb day sunny, clear with little wind. The course was in fantastic condition with fast & true greens and the place looking a picture. Again the Ambrose format was a huge success with 24 teams going for the Clevertronics Trophy. Several new teams entered this year including the Goshawks from Ashburton. Thanks to Dee from Weiss and James for selling all the raffle tickets there were some fantastic prizes for the monster raffle, thank you to the prize givers.
We had 2 BBQ’S this year, Klein Tools on the 10th and Bremca on the 3rd hole. Other sponsors had different novelties around the course – Intech, simPRO, Hamer/Computer Dynamics, and ETCO all with on-course refreshments. ATT had a nail driving contest on hole 12, & Schneider sponsored the longest drive on hole 18, (won by James Anderson) Active Electrical Hornby sponsored the coffee cart before we started. A big thank you to these companies and to the many others who either took up hole sponsorship and or supplied prizes. Thanks to the office staff at Fitzwilliam Electrical & AC Connections for their help with the paperwork.
Results – because of the Ambrose format there were no individual results.
Nearest the pin & longest drive prizes were presented by the sponsors.
The Clevertronics Trophy was won by the Cory’s City 2 team captained by Richard Franklin.
Thanks to all who sponsored and played. Next year’s tournament 30th September.
