Waikato 2025

Our 2025 tourney finds us back at the Tauranga Harbour seaside course of Omokoroa Golf Club.

With the old clubhouse being demolished, ready for a rebuild, we were in the temporary clubhouse marquee for the after-match prize giving.

Scoring was certainly a little average with the wind playing the great leveller on the day, not as hot as last year, but still some very good scores in the Ambrose.
Plenty of new players again this year, with the Ambrose format becoming very popular.
A great effort all round by the committee, the players and generous sponsors on the day.

As usual, the Bay of Plenty turned on another cracker day with beautiful sunshine to kick the day off.
This is our 2nd year at the Omokoroa course, and it was certainly in fabulous condition again and a great host for all our players and sponsors.
The format this year was 4 4-person, Team-Ambrose, with those wanting to qualify for the National Tournament playing 18-hole individual stroke play.
With 120 players entered, 25 Ambrose Teams and 20 in the individual section, trying to qualify for the National Team.
Sponsorship was again brilliant; without the Champion Companies listed below, tournaments like this just couldn't happen.

Although I am the National Sponsorship Coordinator for the NZ Electrical Trades organisation, I'm continually surprised and at times overwhelmed with the generosity of these companies and the great support they give not only the WBOP tourney but all the other 9 regions as well.
So I know it goes without saying, but please support these fantastic companies below whenever you can.

And that's a rap.
See you at the 2026 WBOP tournament at the Morrinsville Golf Club.
Morrinsville Golf Club has been booked for Friday 9th October 2026 due to the previous golf club used in the Waikato doubling its tournament fees.
Rather than increase the entry fees to cover the extra costs, the committee has chosen to relocate the Waikato tournament to the Morrinsville Golf Club for the first time.

Cheers
