Waikato 2024

Our 2024 tournament saw us back in the Waikato at Ngaruawahia Golf Club on Friday 11th October.
There was a lot of rain in the week leading up to the event and was also raining on Friday morning but we were again very lucky with the rain staying away from 9.30 am and during the afternoon play the sun came out and turned on a cracker day.
The course was in fantastic condition and the greens running nice and quick so a good testament to the Ngaruawahia Golf Club crew.
Again, this year the format was 4-person Team Ambrose with those wanting to qualify for the National Tournament playing 18-hole individual stroke play.

The team from ATT - With 1st Hole Umbrella Contest

With 128 players originally entered, we had to cut off the entries 3 weeks early, as per last year with 27 Ambrose Teams and 20 individuals trying to qualify for the National Team.
Although, on the day the numbers were down slightly with 5 teams pulling out unfortunately, but still 114 on the day which was still a great turnout.
Plenty of new players again this year with the Ambrose format becoming very popular.
A great effort all around by the committee, the players, and the generous sponsors on the day.
Sponsorship was again brilliant.
Without the Champion Companies listed below tournaments like this just couldn't happen.
A few new companies joined all our wonderful regular supporters this year with some great feedback from those sponsors who played and those who attended the holes and ran some games for extra prizes.

So I know it goes without saying, but please support these fantastic companies below whenever you can.

The JA Russell Te Rapa crew had the sounds cranking on the 14th hole at the 2nd BBQ station and were joined by the Pierlite/Philips crew supplying the hydration needed for the hot afternoon.

Great work team.

Extra Special thanks to:
Schneider Electric, DHM Technologies, Stella Recruitment, and Simpro for sponsoring the closest to the pins on the par 3 holes. With DHM and Stellar also adding extra fun games on 2 of the holes.
Blake from Fisher & Paykel had the longest drive contest on the 2nd hole and Liz from Clevertronics had the longest drive on the 18th.
The team at ATT Apprenticeship Training Trust again throwing in a fun chipping game into an upturned umbrella on the 1st hole.
Leigh from ETCO had the wire hoop game in full swing but not many with the required steady hand to win an umbrella though.

Not too many Stellar performances here! 🙂

Super Extra Special thanks to:
Bianca and Steve from Legrand for roaming around the course taking photos throughout the day.
A big shout out to our special guest players Trent and Jono Boult.
