The NMWC Ambrose was played in stunning autumn conditions on Friday, the 8th May at the Waahi Taakaro Golf Club.
The first of the committee members arrived at the picturesque nine-hole course in the Maitai Valley just after nine o’clock to discover a solid frost.
Once the sun got above the hills and the Klein Tools BBQ got going, it soon warmed up enough for players from the 11 Ambrose teams to start cracking into the beers.
After a quick briefing, the teams were sent on their way for the 11.00 am start.
Steve from Redpaths manned the par 3 5/14, where a spot prize was awarded to one player from each group. Judged by Steve, this was awarded to the worst shot from each group.
Richard kept the BBQ going for the first loop around the course, and play flowed at a good pace.
Once back in the clubhouse, Nigal from HPM Legrand arrived with the pizza to help soak up some of the drink.
This was followed by prizegiving and the famous mystery boxes of prizes.
Prizegiving started with the nearest the pins.
Nigal awarded the Firstflex-sponsored chilly bin to Kyle Marfell for his efforts on 2/11.
While Redpath's Nelson branch manager, John Galletly, awarded "Daniel" from Tech Electric his bag of goodies for his "greatest shot ever" on 5/14.

Finishing in third place with a score of 66 was Radcliffe Blenheim.
In second was the Purple Cobraz with 65.
And taking the win with an impressive score of 62 was the team from Rowan Dron Electrical.
