This was after the postponement from an earlier date when the Waahi Taakaro course was badly damaged by the Nelson flood in August.
The 2022 Nelson Marlborough West Coast tournament was finally played on the 25th of November.
Inset left – Bridge to Golf Course earlier in the year.
Full credit has to go to the members and green staff of the club for getting the course back to the condition it was on the day.
Special praise was also offered on the day to club manager Peter Watson on the condition of the greens. After the first covid lockdown of 2020, the greens were nearly lost. For them to be in the condition they are now (which would be the best I have seen in many visits to the club) is a credit to all involved.
A new feature of the course is the new way to access it. The raging river took out two bridges so the only way onto the course now from the clubhouse is across the vehicle ford. A rather unique way to start your round.
Fine weather with a decent wind that swirled around the valley met the 10 ambrose teams on the day.
They were well fed before golf by Richard from Klein Tools who we thank for their continued support of most events around the country.
Thanks also to Nigel from Legrand who supplied and prepared the after-golf meal, always a hit with the players.
Clearly, the field consisted of a lot of part-time or non-golfers as only four teams finished under par.
Three teams finished with 68 and final positions were decided by countback.
In first place was the team of Andy, Paul, Martin & Todd in second place, the threesome of Linton, Lee & Bryce, and in third place was the team of Colin, Blair, Hugo & Pierce
Each of the 10 teams took home a mystery box of items.
Nearest the pins were won by Colin White & Hugo Bowden.
