It wouldn’t be an Auckland tournament without rain in the weather forecast.
Postponed in April by the only rain in two months, we headed for Maungakiekie Golf Course with a level of optimism that the weather gods would bless us with improved conditions.
Regretfully, this would not be the case; rain during the week would see carts no longer allowed, resulting in a couple of defections from those unable to walk the hilly climbs of Maungakiekie.
The day was expected to have a few showers, which fortunately occurred only occasionally.

Generally, the day was pleasant enough, as reflected in the scores of the leading players and Ambrose teams. Given the underfoot dampness, the green staff had presented the course in excellent condition, with the greens both firm and true, allowing the accomplished players to showcase their skills.
Many thanks to Alex and Connor, as well as the greens staff, for providing a quality course for our players.
Andrew McGregor and the pro-shop staff, Cathy and Blake, for providing the cards and carrying out our results on the day.
To the bar staff, Carin, Hayden, and Zoe, as always, were very accommodating and cheerful, and the caterers, for preparing the post-round platters.
Our tournament organizers Jamie Dempster and Brian Hemingway, have put together a very successful day, supported by incredible input from our supporting sponsors, the team from Schneider Electric have followed on from the amazing fare provided last year to once again lay on a perfect selection of snags and burgers at the on course BBQ kiosk.
Many thanks to Vanessa, Paris, and Stefan from Schneider for your generous support and time taken out of your busy schedules.

Stefan and Paris are taking time out from a very busy day 🙂
Thanks to Mark Ross for providing soft drinks kindly donated by Frucor.
On the tee at 12, Gerard, Jacky and Nick from Switch Lighting held a challenging axe-throwing event. “It’s ok, no one was hurt during the contesting of this event.”

A great deal of entertainment was provided by our sponsors, adding to a fantastic day out for all.

Prize giving, as always, was an elaborate affair with nearest the pin and long drives prizes handed out, a monster raffle with amazing prizes awarded, along with a special prize draw for those who joined up as NZETG members on the night.
